Description

We start with basic facial proportions and shapes, learning how to approach the nose, eyes, mouth etc. I’ll share tricks for capturing the personality and character of the sitter, focusing on how marks and colour convey expression.

Next, you’ll move on to drawing yourself, experimenting freely with lines, textures (mark-making) and a variety of media.

For the remainder of the day, we’ll draw each other — exploring expression, shapes, and movement rather than aiming for accuracy.

I’ll guide you on letting go of perfection and avoiding the urge to ‘make it right’.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll be encouraged to play with different papers, tools, and media, enjoying the process of creating without pressure. All materials are included.

No experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to explore! Be prepared to leave with lots of portraits.
