Description

In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore a variety of subjects including landscape, still life, portraiture and abstract-inspired studies, using observation, imagination and personal interpretation as starting points. Rather than focusing on fine detail, we'll investigate ways to capture the essence, mood and energy of a subject through expressive mark making, colour relationships, texture and composition.

Working on paper, you'll have the opportunity to experiment with a range of materials including acrylic paints, inks, watercolours, charcoal, oil sticks, pastels and drawing media. Through demonstrations, guided exercises and individual exploration, you'll discover exciting ways to layer materials, create dynamic surfaces, and develop confidence in a more contemporary and personal approach to art making.

This is a workshop about giving yourself permission to let go of perfection, trust your instincts, and embrace the freedom that comes from responding intuitively through colour, texture and mark making.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have created a collection of expressive studies and artworks that may be ready to frame, gift, display in your home, or continue developing in your own practice. More importantly, you'll leave with new skills, fresh ideas, and greater confidence in your ability to work in a freer, more expressive way.
