Suitable for both continuing students and complete beginners, this workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to watercolour painting.
Topics are: Still life, food , animals and a touch of florals.
Julie will guide you step by step through the fundamentals of working with watercolours, helping you build confidence while exploring the medium’s beautiful transparency. You’ll practice and refine techniques that create depth, atmosphere, and subtlety in your paintings.
Throughout the workshop, we’ll cover essential topics such as choosing the right paper, understanding pigments, and how water interacts with colour. Through guided exercises in wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and layering methods, you’ will develop both technical skills and creative expression.
All materials—Arches 300gsm watercolour paper, student-quality paints, squirrel-hair brushes, and morning tea—are provided. If you have your own brushes or watercolours, feel free to bring them along.
Please BYO lunch.
You will be encouraged to embrace the challenge of pushing your boundaries, to let go of expectations, to be open to learn from your mistakes, but most importantly, have fun and enjoy the process! After all, art making is just practice.
